Before downloading DOC Regenerator, you'd better make it clear on which drive (or partition) you need to recover your DOC files and then save DOC Regenerator setup file to a different drive. You'd better write no more data to the drive that need recovery, for the doc files might be overwritten. Though DOC Regenerator can regenerate overwritten documents from file fragments found on the disk, files that has not been overwritten are easier to recover. |

Start a New Regeneration - Select Source Drive |

- After you have downloaded and installed DOC Regenerator, you can recover your word files now. Open your DOC Regenerator by double click the icon on Desktop, or from "Start - Programs - DOC Regenerator" (In Windows XP, maybe "Start - All Programs - DOC Regenerator".
- Select Source Drive: choose the drive on which you need to recover your word files.
- If you have previous uncompleted regeneration, you can resume it from menu "Regeneration" and choose "Resume".

Select Destination Directory and Start Scanning |

- Select Destination Directory: choose a directory to save recovered files. Note: the destination directory had better to be on a drive that is different from the Source Drive you have selected in Step 1, in order not to overwrite unrecovered files.
- Click "OK" to start scanning. This may need a few minutes, and the larger drive may need a longer period of time.
- DOC Regenerator will do some automatic Analyzing after Scanning, which will also take a few minutes.
- Note: during scanning and analyzing, DOC Regenerator will autosave the program status. Autosave allows continuing recovery, terminated at any stage.

Preview Recovered Word Files |

- When scanning and analyzing finished, you can preview recovered word files.
- You can check all recovered files and save them to your destination directory.
- You can also exactly find what you need among those recovered files by clicking "Check according to filter". Then a filter screen will be displayed.

Regeneration Filter
- Specific documents (according to criteria below): you can define a list of words and DOC Regenerator will give you "Documents, containing words from the list".
- You can also define if the documents containing "All of the words from the list" or "At least one of the words from the list".
- You can add or remove words from the list.
